Youth Athlete Development
For 8 to 13 year olds who want to be faster, stronger and harder to injure.
Who it's for
Kids aged 8 to 13, at any level. A coached strength and conditioning program built on long-term athlete development principles: the same pyramid as the adults, at the right load for a growing body. Movement quality first, then strength, then speed and power. Nothing gets loaded until it's controlled.
What's included
- A movement screen before anything is loaded
- Coached sessions in small groups
- A program in Everfit for every athlete
- Speed, agility and strength every week
What a session looks like
- Sixty minutes
- Check-in and a word with the coach about how the body's feeling and what sport's on that week
- Ten minutes of movement prep: hips, ankles, trunk
- Fifteen minutes of speed and agility: acceleration, deceleration, change of direction, coached rep by rep
- Twenty-five minutes of strength: two or three main lifts, technique before load, every set watched

Questions
- What age is it for?
- Eight to thirteen. We group by training age and maturity, not just birthday, so a small ten year old and a tall twelve year old can end up in different groups.
- Is my child too young to lift weights?
- No, and most of the early work isn't lifting. It's learning to squat, hinge, jump and land properly with their own body weight. Load comes later, once the movement is right, and it's light and coached rep by rep.
- What does a session look like for an 8 year old versus a 13 year old?
- The shape is the same: warm up, move well, get fast, get strong, finish. An eight year old spends most of it on games, landing and running mechanics. A thirteen year old spends more time under a bar and on timed sprints.
- How do you keep it fun?
- Races, relays, chasing games and a scoreboard. Kids don't know they're doing acceleration work if it's a tag game. The coaching sits inside the fun, not instead of it.
- What if they've never played organised sport?
- That's fine. Plenty start here first. The screen tells us where they're at, and the program starts from there, not from where a club kid is.
- My kid's never lifted a weight. Is it safe?
- That's the point of the screen. Every athlete is assessed first, and no one is loaded until the movement is right. Control before output, every session.
- What if they get injured at club training?
- Tell us. We program around it, keep them moving on what they can do, and work in with whoever is treating them so they come back properly rather than early.
- Can siblings train together?
- Yes, if they land in the same group. If the age gap puts them in different groups, we'll try to book them into the same session time so it's one trip for you.
- Do you run school holiday programs?
- Yes, each term break. Short blocks, mornings, same coaches. They're announced on Instagram and to current families first.
- How many sessions a week?
- Two is the minimum to see change. Three if they're in the off-season. In-season we manage load around club training and games.
- Do they need gear?
- Runners, shorts, a shirt, a drink bottle. Everything else is here.
- Can I watch?
- Yes. Sessions run in open, observable spaces and you're welcome on site.
- How does it fit around school and club sport?
- We ask what's on each week and program around it. A heavy game week is a lighter gym week.
- How do I pay?
- The twenty-session pack is purchased through GymMaster. A weekly, tiered Youth Membership is coming soon; register interest on the youth page and we'll let you know first.
